We really poured our hearts into this production and we really hope you enjoy it.
In this feature-length production, Scott Hanselman and Rob Conery offer suggestions and advice on how you can get out there, and get involved. Blogging, Twitter, Github, StackOverflow, User Groups and Conferences: all of this can make you a happier, more productive developer and inspire you to take your career to the next level.
You certainly don't have to be social to be better at writing code - but sharpening your skills this way helps you when it comes time for a job interview, a yearly review where a promotion is on the line, or when you want to start running an Open Source project.
If you're a fan of This Developer's Life you know how tightly Rob and I like to produce things - this video is no exception.
Filmed on the streets of Portland and at a Portland user group, we talk about Blogging, Twitter, Github, StackOverflow, Open Source, Speaking, User Groups and Conferences - all of this hoping to make you a happier, more productive, more connected developer. We want to inspire you and perhaps to take your career to the next level.
Additionally, we stretched far beyond Portland to seek out the other people who active in the social technology space!
- Jon Skeet joins us to talk about what a Good Question is on StackOverflow - and also how you can gain reputation by providing Good Answers - and edits to Good Questions!
- We venture out to the Portland Area DotNet Users Group (PADNUG) and meet a few developers who have just started going - as well as people who have been there for years.
- While we were there, I gave a 10-minute lightning talk on Azure - a great way to get started speaking if you're not a fan of public speaking. Rob filmed the whole thing.
By the way, if you do have a Pluralsight Subscription, you've got access to thousands of hours of technical video training, like my other video on technical presenting!

About Newsletter
I've been thinking about creating a blog for a while and had started putting together some articles. They're mostly technical articles based around the things I do infrequently, so forget how to do them.
In a slightly less technical section, I also started a post on TDD (which I hate - for good reason). Even reading the first few lines in light of your course told me it was a massive mistake.
I'm now convinced that I do not have what it takes to become a blogger. I have opinions and am happy to share them with others if asked, but I don't have the self confidence to put those opinions out there for everyone to poke at. And that's Ok, I'm cool with that.
So, thank you for stopping me from shooting myself in the foot. I'll continue to develop the "code" centric side for my personal consumption (and as an excluse to learh html5, css and php), but won't be going public any time soon!
If so, I can heartily recommend it!
It's definitely a developers view on the meaning of 'social'!
Very nice, but as a old CPian I feel offended you didn't mentioned CodeProject!!! You should, as now there are dozen of CPians calling voodoo upon you!
I have no idea where I would find the time to do this

I guess I'll start by watching that video though :)
I've made a start at http://www.sabarnett.co.uk/CodeKeep/ and will see how I get on. If it proves to be something I get comfortable with I can move on to a "real" blog.
Shared it on twitter ...

Learned a lot from this video.

The tips on blogging and online interactions are spectacular! I SO need to put together a blog now! Before this course, I wouldn't even bother posting a comment, but as a personal goal now I'm trying to comment on all podcasts and blog posts I consume. I'd encourage all of you silent readers out there to do the same!
Hopefully, you all will be content creators at some point, and I'm confident that comments will encourage you to continue creating! SO, let's all remember to contribute, to "Get Involved!", and to keep our favorite creators inspired so that they can keep us going as well!
