Our first year. A new web conference - <anglebrackets>
There's a new web conference happening in Vegas next month and you should join us. John Papa, myself and our friends pulled in the speakers from a combination of invitations and submitted talks. It's called anglebrackets.org and I hope to see you there.
My friends and I miss the old Mix conference and the great fun of web conferences in Vegas generally. So we talked to Richard Campbell and some friends and made our own show. (This is not a Microsoft show, to be clear)
This is the first year of anglebrackets and it's going to be a small conference and we have no money. Because of this, we are co-located with a larger conference* and attendees can move between the two conferences.
You'll be able to enjoy web-focused, back-end non-specific web sessions from amazing web people like:

* Yes, we took a little artistic license with the <tag/>, or <tag />, or <tag> if you are super pedantic. It is valid syntax although HTML5's opinion is different than XHTML's. The fact that you even noticed and want to argue is proof you should come to this conference. See what I did there?

This sounds like an awesome conference, and I know a lot of devs who do miss Mix.
Just last week I had registered for DevIntersection, but when I saw your tweets about <anglebrackets>, I totally wanted to go to that instead. Now I see attendees can move between the two conferences -- wooohooo! This made my day. I hope anglebrackets really takes off for you.

Glad you are doing this. Very much miss Mix and its content. BUILD is too big and swallows up the great work that ASP.NET is doing all these years.

I just wanted to give you some feedback on the anglebrackets registration web site.
I am assuming for now that you had been somehow involved in creating that web site - if that assumption is wrong you may stop reading here or forward this mail to whom it may concern ;-)
There were 3 things that struck me as slightly awkward when doing the registration:
1.) The web form for the hotel reservation is asking me to fill out the check-in and check-out dates as text in a very specific format (mm/dd/yy). As much as I despise crappy JavaScript datepickers, this is even worse ... because it directly lead to issue #2.
2.) Since we are using a different date formats here in Austria, I happened to fill out the hotel reservation dates in the wrong way (dd/mm/yy). This lead to a form validation error, when hitting the "Checkout" button. Unfortunately, the hotel registration form section is gets hidden after that, even though the check box for it is set. This is clearly a bug which can easily be reproduced by just checking "hotel registration" and immediately checking out after that.
3.) After I corrected my error and was abled to submit the form, the whole transaction was immediately finished. I found that rather irritating and ould have actually expected to get some kind of summery of the entered data and the resulting cost before charging my credit card. This is usually the way stuff like this happens, right?
I know you are a person who values feedback and strongly believes in it. That's the reason I am reporting these things.
Also, this is a web devlopment conference. This conference web site should set an example how to do things right ;)
Apart from that, I am really looking forward to anglebrackets and believe it's going to be a great conference! Can't wait to experience all these brilliant and inspiring people live on stage!
