Clemens got Slashdotted, site not quite holding up?

Looks like Clemens got slashdotted.  Funny, I submitted the link to his letter, and was rejected.  I wonder how many people did the same before Hemos submitted it himself. 

Looks like Clemens site isn't holding up as well as mine did.  I'm getting timeouts from his ISA server:

10061 - Connection refused
Internet Security and Acceleration Server

I can't tell if dasBlog having trouble under the load, or if it's just a bandwidth/hardware thing.  I run my site at ORCSWeb (highly recommended) and I didn't even notice the slashdotting from a performance point of view.   I think that dasBlog scales just fine for 99% of folks needs.

Answer is: The bandwidth of the backend web server is intentionally throttled so that we don't lose VPN and mail if something like that happens. When the server is maxed out, ISA can't get its fwd'd requests fulfilled and times out. Calculated behavior.

I'm curious why you would submit that story to Slashdot. Were you trying to razz them, or did you think it would change their minds?

I read slashdot too, for the geek content (movies, toys, etc) - not the "MS sucks OSS rules" constant regurgitation of the same arguments.

I submitted it because I agree with Clemens, I thought it was very well written, and I thought folks should see it. I don't think of the Slashdotters as a mob of fools to be tormented (even though they are). :)
