As some of you may have seen, a draft version of the WS-I Basic Profile has been released (http://www.ws-i.org/Profiles/Basic/2002-10/BasicProfile-1.0-WGD.htm).  There has been some interesting commentary so far, and for those of you interested I encourage you to read up.  Strangely enough, the profile supports RPC/Literal but not RPC/Encoded.  I’ve been lobbying for dropping RPC/Lit as well, since there’s so little tool support out there for this mode and there’s really no reason to not just use Doc/Lit if you are going to use literal (XML schema-based) encoding of types.
