Best Packet Writing Software?

I just upgraded, blindly, to Nero 7, and suddenly InCD (the Nero Packet Writing Software) and my Iomega REV Drive are fighting. I have an Iomega REV 35G USB along with two Sony DVD+-RW drives, the 510a and the 810a. The 810a is Dual Layer. Now that Nero is installed my REV Drive just looks like a CD.
I always thought InCD was the ultimate packet writing software - however, school me, dear readers, what's the real story for RW disks?

I just upgraded to Nero 7 Ultra and InCD is working great (on DVD-RW's) together with DirectCD installed on the same machine, generally considered a big no no. I'm using second copy as a backup software and love it also. One reason to have Nero Ultra 7 is Nero Soundtrax, if you're into music editing.
I've scanned a few web pages where people are having coaster burning results with Nero 7 (unsure exactly what revision). They appear to be reverting back to 6 (or 6.6 or 6.06) until 7 becomes more stable.

I've just installed Nero 7 and INCD, and it wouldn't read the disk that was made with Nero 6 INCD. Weird!
For the uninitiated, could you tell us what "packet" writing software is, how does it differ from regular CD/DVD burning?
I gave up on packet writing long ago - too many compatibility issues and crashes. The allure of "drive letter access" was strong to be sure, but it always seemed to cause more headaches than it solved.
I simply master standard discs to do backup, using multiple sessions to get mileage out of discs.

Well I had this problem and found a solution, what you need to do is search for a exe in windows folder called 'nerocheck' delete this and reinstall your driver for your rev drive and it will work properly then on, or until you install the latest update and you will have to do it again
