Cringely is killing me
Cringely is killing me. Dvorak is killing me. Computer Pundits are killing me. I swear, I get more valuable insight from the average Joe working at Subway Sandwiches than I do reading this drivel. All is succeeds in is frustrating me.
Silly Cringley Quote of the Day
"Even today, you can still get to a C: prompt under Windows XP, which means a disk operating system is hiding there no matter what Microsoft wants us to believe."
Is this even English? (well, arguably "Is this even English" probably isn't a complete sentence, but that's neither here nor there.)
<sarcasm>Thanks, Cringley, clearly Microsoft needs to remove the command-line interface to gain street credibility.</sarcasm> Since when did the addition of of a Windowing Interface leave the realm of "Operating System Services." If I run an X-Server under Windows, what does that mean, I'm two OSes, or half of one? If I access my headless Windows box entirely via VNC or RDP then what does that mean? Explorer.exe is a shell, as is KDE and Gnome...but GDI and X are still optional, but often core OS Services.
Now, Norton Desktop, that should have been an OS, baby.
